Some maps
The Department of Chemistry is located in the Helsinki district
called Kumpula (Gumtäkt in Swedish). The
Kumpula campus area contains not only the Department
of Chemistry, but also the Departments of Physics, Geology,
Geography, Mathematics and other stuff.
How to get here
Only one method, the easiest public transport one, will be described:
By bus from the Central Railway Station to the "Kumpulan kampus /
Gumtäkts campus" bus stop. Take any of the following buses:
- 70, 73N, 75, 77, 711, 730–741.
Get off at the Kumpulan kampus bus stop. It comes right after
a bridge crossing a railway track. The trip should take some ten,
fifteen minutes. Facing the direction you came, you have a hill on
your left hand side. On the top of the hill there is a large globe,
a Doppler radar shell. The Chemistry department is to the right of the house
supporting the Doppler shell.
Many other buses and routes are available, check for example the previous
section on maps.
You can also use the
Journey Planner.
An example of the route Central Railway Station – Kumpulan kampus
is found
here. If you feel brave, try out the
Helsinki slang version.
